Australian Wooden Boat Festival, Tasmania
The Australian Wooden Boat Festival is held every two years in Hobart, Tasmania.
The last event was from Friday, 9 February 2007 to Monday, 12 February 2007. Five tall ships, including the HMB Endeavour, a replica of Captain Cook’s famous vessel of discovery, were part of the spectacle. More than 500 boats were showcased.
An attraction at the festival is Seataste, a dockside demonstration of cooking and tastings of Tasmanian seafood.
Held in Hobart every two years since 1994, the event has continued to increase in size and scope. At the 2007 Australian Wooden Boat Festival more than 70,000 visitors attended. Exit surveys from the 2005 event showed that more than a third of the visitors were from interstate or overseas.
