Cadbury Chocolate Factory – Claremont, Tasmania
The Cadbury Chocolate Factory at Claremont, 15 kilometres north of hobart city, is one of the major private-sector employers in Tasmania.
The enterprise uses a large percentage of Tasmania’s milk production. Most of the chocolate made at Claremont is sent interstate or exported overseas.
The facility is the largest chocolate factory in the southern hemisphere.
The Cadbury Chocolate Factory was established in 1921. It has 18 heritage-listed buildings on the site and has had two multi-million dollar upgrades since 2001. These have helped to secure the future of the plant in Tasmania and have substantially increased production.
